The former Golden Ox restaurant space now houses Stockyards Brewing Company, co founded by Greg Bland, Ray Kerzner and Brendan Gargano.  The brewery and taproom retained many features of the former Golden Ox, including stained glass windows, mahogany woodwork and the original front bar.  The brewery has become a popular stop on the local Kansas City brewery tour, as patrons enjoy the core beers Golden Alt, Black IPA, Brunch Stout, Thunder Hef, a hefeweizen and hoppy India Pale Lager.  The bar also serves guest beers from other breweries on tap, plus cocktails and wine.  The brewery occupies the south side of the original Golden Ox space, and the remainder of the restaurant space on the north is being renovated as the Golden Ox under the management of Wes Gartner and Jill Myers, who own and operate Voltaire across the street.  The space will have a wood-fired grill in a semi-open kitchen, and will have a classic steakhouse menu, that focuses on high quality meats and vegetables, sourced locally, and homemade bread.  The “new Golden Ox”  is projected to open the end of 2017.  Come on down to the Stockyards District and enjoy a great assortment of Kansas City beer, wine and restaurant offerings!
